Western Cape, South Africa
Tim and I rounded out the last 10 or so days driving around the Western Cape...which is the area east of Cape town. Wine country, little towns, beautiful countryside, and almost no other tourists. More often than not we were the only people staying in our guest house and a number of times the only or one of the only people in the restaurant. That coupled with some rain made it seem like we may have been in a great spot but just at the wrong time. Our last stop was Hermanus, which is renowned for that great viewing of whales that come right up to the shore...apparently. That was something that we finally hit at the right season, and we were told of and shown dramatic pictures of Right Whales breaching in the bay just two days before. We saw some whales...but none throwing themselves out of the water. Pics to follow.
